New Document Preview Features in KnowledgeTree 3.7

The next release of KnowledgeTree is in the pipeline. During our planning we took a moment to think about what we could do for our customers that would make their lives easier. We realized that the one thing KnowledgeTree could do better was to provide better document previewing functionality. The only available option was to use the inline viewer, however, this only supports a small set of document types. With this in mind we set about adding two new features.

The first feature creates a thumbnail of the first page of the document. The thumbnail is displayed in the left panel of the document view page, in addition a thumbnail column can be added to the browse view for easy scanning of documents and images. Clicking on the thumbnail produces the second feature (also available as a document action), a flash-based preview of the full document. Full navigation around the document is provided, zooming is enabled and the document can be full-screened for easier viewing. If the document is an image then it will display in a modal window.

The new flash-based preview allows the full document to be previewed online without needing to download it. It will be available in the KnowledgeTree 3.7 release.

What other new feature should we expect? About to make a purchase, should I wait for the new release or is there a free update/upgrade? When is the release due?

KnowledgeTree 3.7 will include a whole host of new features in addition to document preview. Look out for new features that enhance ease of use and integration such as a revamped setup wizard, enhanced document properties and updated search and indexing capabilities to name a few!

Error on Linux

The following is gotten any time I am trying to configure email setting to use our company webmail (zimbra) to send mail as workflow notification or as email document on ubuntu linux. When I try the same with KT on window it was successful. I need it to work on our production Linux to configure the workflow and Ldap.

Error sending mail to Array; mailer error code=SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host

Do you have any solution?

Email Function seemed not working

Hello,

I cannot make email function of KT work in my server. I installed KT CE 3.7 in an Ubuntu Server 9.10 and Postfix as my mail agent.
I alway got this error:

Error sending mail to Array; mailer error code=The following From address failed: mailer@example.com

I know I set the Email Settings in Administration part correctly because I am using the same settings on the other apps
I am receiving messages. Only KT does not.

Any ideas?

With the new flash capability will system be capable of importing audio/video contents and launching appropriate media viewer (within) for retrieval without downloading?

Not in this version but I can see how that would be very useful to companies working with media files. We'll be sure to consider it for future iterations of the preview feature.
