New KnowledgeTree SaaS features

Last Friday (July 9) we released several great new features on our SaaS platform. This is the first update since KnowledgeTree’s fresh new interface was made available to users of our 30-day free trial. The focus of this update was on usability and we’re sure you’ll be as excited about some of the changes as we are!
New users will notice the “Getting Started” dialog that loads the first time you access KnowledgeTree and presents how-to videos. Not only will this help trial users get the most out of their trial, but it’s a great refresher for everyone else too. The Getting Started videos complement the comprehensive help and support provided through the Get Help link where you can find the answers to more in-depth questions, log issues and make suggestions for product enhancements — all through one easy to use interface.
The new document details page provides a quick and intuitive way to interact with your documents. Rather than the previous detailed view of document metadata, clicking a document will now take you to a page which has a document thumbnail, some high level document information and a feed of recent document activity and comments. From there, you can switch to views of document properties, or get an instant preview of the document. The ability to add comments to the document in a familiar "feed" format enables you to collaborate on your content. You’ll also see version information as interleaved flags that give you an inline view of document version history. Comments are sorted with the most recent at the top and users’ avatars are displayed through a feed from www.gravatar.com.
Getting content into KnowledgeTree has never been quicker – you can now drag and drop documents from your local file system directly into your KnowledgeTree browser window using KnowledgeTree’s HTML5-enabled drag and drop functionality. To take advantage of this feature your browser will have to be HTML5 compatible – if it isn’t, it really may be time to change!
As part of our ongoing drive to increase usability and enable you to get things done quickly, many pages in KnowledgeTree were dramatically simplified in this update. We’ve reduced the number of required input fields and removed text that we felt was too wordy. The Settings section (previously Administration) has been simplified too. The number of subsections was reduced from eight to five and friendly icons added to help you find what you are looking for.
Finally we added an Applications tab to enable you to get the most current versions of our desktop tools from right within KnowledgeTree. These features are underpinned by a far longer list of significant engineering changes that make KnowledgeTree faster.
The team is already hard at work on the next set of changes which will make the browse documents view friendlier and more useful than ever before...watch this space!
