Good News! Looks Good. The main reason we have not moved to Knowledgetree was the lack of a cross-platform explorer, as we are increasingly deploying Ubuntu desktops vs Windows desktops. Now, access to Knowledgetree from within OpenOffice?
The large firms are starting to use open source, and for the most part this is a very good thing, provided that they respect the ethos of OSS. One thing always worries me when an open source project gets snapped up by a large mulit national like Mysql with Sun/Oracle will Oracle continue to respect the OSS ethos or will they let the product slide and spend the R&D on there main Oracle DB.

Could you please supply me with some more information on this issue?
KnowledgeTree Server
1. Version (e.g. Commercial 3.6.1, etc.)
2. Operating System & Version (e.g. Windows Server 2003, Ubuntu 8.0, etc.)
3. Version of Drop Box
4. Could you please provide us with the log file, it can be found in C:\Program Files\Common Files\KnowledgeTree\Drop Box\log
Hi Jerry,
I'm not sure I exactly follow your argument. Here's my 2c anyway:
It sounds like you are describing the same method as I did earlier. Plain text passwords are sniff-able over non SSL connections, and that makes the user vulnerable. If you hash the password before storing it in the database, it really isn't that much more secure, if you use the conventional approach: You can still sniff the hash over non secure connections, and even if you don't know the original password, you can log into the account using the hash.
The main reason why we're using tokens is because md5 is a uni-directional, lossy hash. By combining the token and the hashed password and then hashing the whole thing, you generate a key that will unlock the account without revealing ANY information that can be usefully sniffed.
In the meantime, I have implemented an even more robust and secure transport protocol, which I will blog about soon.
I cannot make email function of KT work in my server. I installed KT CE 3.7 in an Ubuntu Server 9.10 and Postfix as my mail agent.
I alway got this error:
Error sending mail to Array; mailer error code=The following From address failed: mailer@example.com
I know I set the Email Settings in Administration part correctly because I am using the same settings on the other apps
I am receiving messages. Only KT does not.
I found someone opened a tracker yesterday. The solution for the moment is moving the root document from /knowledgetree to / <- yes the root, then the ktgplclient can connect successfully...
1) The resolved permission for WorkSpace Owner is not resolved correctly (ever?) or not initially set correctly on the DroppedDocuments subfolders. I was getting "DroppedDocuments" folder not created for user initially. My default user is not a Systems Administrator so that shows the problem too.
To resolve that problem I added myself in to have permission and had further success getting to the point as described by Rick - 0 of 1 files uploaded.
So can the suggestions be made public please so those of use who want to suggest the drop box be used succeed?
There is a world of difference between copyright assignment and copyright licensing. Coming to conclusions about the right way to manage IP in open source products without understand those differences from both a legal and community development perspective is a mistake.
Well honestly I work in this field and this are great news for me too. I look forward to start making more money from now on and this is helping me a lot. Also I enjoyed everything you wrote in this article and I will keep checking on you more often cause I noticed there are new and good thinking to read in order to improve my work. Recently I decided to work with an easy saver program that it would help me to save as much as possible every month.
If you are connecting to an on-premise installation, please ensure that you use http(s)://serveraddres/knowledgetree (where serveraddress is your specific server address) to connect to the server. The /knowledgetree is vital.
(Please post questions on all KnowledgeTree Client Applications (including Explorer CP) to the appropriate topic in http://forums.knowledgetree.com for speediest response.)
I set up a trial version of KT Commercial and everything works except Explorer CP. Specifically, it sees the server, but never recognizes the server. I'm using version .9.live.

VCL, .net or VSTO?

Hi Rupert,
Great to hear that you're as excited as we are about Explorer CP! Why not give it a test drive?
Also, we are considering desktop integration with OpenOffice. We'll keep you posted on any developments in this regard.
Best,
Damien
We are currently working on increasing the volume on this video. Watch out for an updated version within the next day or two.

volume is way too low. Even cranked to max I can barely hear it. No other videos are this quiet.

Roland Gaida uploaded v0.92 Beta. It supports a custom root for KT. Give it a try.
Hi, please could you post this on our forums - http://forums.knowledgetree.com.
Thank you.

Hi Eric,
Great to hear that you're as excited as we are about Knowledgetree 3.7!
Upgraded 3.7 KnowledgeTree Live instances are currently being rolled out to all existing accounts.
You will be notified of this upgrade over the next few days.
Best Regards,
Damien Williams
As impatient as I am to try Jeremy's tool, I added a preliminary fix to the bug ticket. See tracker item #51.
I found someone opened a tracker yesterday. The solution for the moment is moving the root document from /knowledgetree to / <- yes the root, then the ktgplclient can connect successfully...
got the same error
What is the exact URL to connect? I tried everything I can think of but no luck.. such as:
http://myserver.com/knowledgetree <- the root of KT-CE
http://myserver.com/knowledgetree/ktwebdav Failed 404
http://myserver.com/knowledgetree/ktwebdav/ Failed 404
http://myserver.com/knowledgetree/ktwebdav/ktwebdav.php Failed 404
http://myserver.com/knowledgetree/ktwebdav/ktwebdav.php/ AUTHORISATION Failed, even I know I am entering the correct username and password.
I really love to use this software. Pls help!
Many thanks!
All of this 3.7 based functionality looks terrific. When do ktlive customers get to try it?
I am seeing the same problem.
It appears a few things are going wrong:
1) The resolved permission for WorkSpace Owner is not resolved correctly (ever?) or not initially set correctly on the DroppedDocuments subfolders. I was getting "DroppedDocuments" folder not created for user initially. My default user is not a Systems Administrator so that shows the problem too.

If you need to know that, easy saver complaints helped a lot as well. You should try it.
