The community-developed integration between KnowledgeTree and Zimbra, a popular open source email and collaboration suite, comes in the form of a Zimlet or plugin, which adds a KnowledgeTree upload widget to the Zimbra Collaboration Suite user interface. Users can upload emails and attachments to KnowledgeTree by dragging and dropping them on to a designated area. The Zimlet also supports the transfer of key fields from emails to document properties in KnowledgeTree.

Initial development of the Zimlet was undertaken by xrickung, on behalf of Oxford Archaeology. The current version supports KnowledgeTree 3.6.1 and Zimbra 5.0.x. The project is looking for participants, so please join in if you are interested.

The KnowledgeTree CMIS Drupal project integrates KnowledgeTree document management software with Drupal and requires the CMIS API module as a base.

The module allows users or administrators to execute CMIS API calls against a KnowledgeTree CMIS-compliant repository, browse the CMIS repository by navigating its hierarchy and providing repository information.

ProcessMaker, developed by Colosa Inc., is a commercial open source workflow and business process management software suite that allows small to medium-sized organizations to automate document intensive, approval-based processes across various systems including finance, HR and operations.

The combination of ProcessMaker BPM software, which simplifies workflow through the automation of paper-based processes, with KnowledgeTree’s open source document management software, delivers a tool that will allow businesses to bring together workflow and document management capabilities to design and manage business processes, and to seamlessly file, store and retrieve mission-critical documents.

The KnowledgeTree- ProcessMaker mashup allows users to upload, store, and organize documents from ProcessMaker workflows and cases in KnowledgeTree.

OpenSymbol have developed numerous KnowledgeTree extensions over the past few years. The latest application integrates KnowledgeTree and SAP Financials and uses KnowledgeTree’s Web Services API. Invoices, bill of materials, and other documents produced in SAP can be saved directly into KnowledgeTree with customer data saved as metadata fields.

KnowledgeTree has extended its third-party application interface, Hot Folders, to work seamlessly with Fujitsu ScanSnap scanners, helping businesses streamline processes, and more importantly, reduce the incidence of headaches from sorting and organizing volumes of paper.
