New Release Information

This is a minor update with few visible changes. We have corrected a number of issues, and made a few welcome improvements. Click here to view the Release Notes.

This is KnowledgeTree’s first production-ready release of our new PHP5 and MySQL5-based stack. The move to PHP5 provides a modern application environment that will bring improved performance and stability. This stack also brings support for Windows® Vista® and a host of new features detailed below.

KnowledgeTree Server

• A powerful new search engine that includes offline document indexing, a search query builder, ranked results, wild cards, and result snippets.
• Microsoft Office 2007 support for both our Office Tools and document indexing
• A brand new stack, based on PHP5 and MySQL 5, delivers improved performance and stability, and support for Windows® Vista®.
• An EXIF Indexer, for TIFF and JPG files, which extracts the metadata embedded by some scanners and digital cameras.
• Improvements to KnowledgeTree's Web Interface, including 'Bulk Actions' – now available on the Search Results page and Browse Documents – and additional workflow triggers, such as the 'Copy Workflow' trigger, which makes a copy of a document when it reaches a specified workflow state.
• Progress bars show the status of tasks in progress.
• Ability to delete users from the system.
• A new KnowledgeTree Task Scheduler now allows you to create Plugins for setting up custom, pre-defined, time-based tasks that you want to run automatically within KnowledgeTree.
• Custom Document Numbering plugin – create your own numbering schemes by document type to use as the KnowledgeTree document IDs
• Document Version Comparison – generates a document through OpenOffice, showing content changes between any two versions of a document with the same mime type, then create a downloadable PDF out of the version comparison document.
• Conditional Metadata – a new fieldset type that allows you to define master Lookup fields, each with a subset of associated lookup fields and values.

KnowledgeTree Tools

• New document metadata input screen allows concurrent upload of multiple documents (common metadata may be applied to several files at once).
• German translation of KnowledgeTree Tools interface is now available (More languages available soon).
• Ability to view document properties on checked-out documents.
• Document Workflow Integration Service now supports upload of system metadata, including created date, modified date and version number
• Ability to disable save password feature for added security
• KnowledgeTree Office Plugin now supported for use with Microsoft Office 2007

This is primarily a maintenance update and bug fix release for KnowledgeTree 3.4.5, with few visible changes. This release repairs errors in the following areas: installation and upgrade failures, issues related to automatic workflow assignments, adding documents, Active Directory login failures, the Indexing and RSS Feeds plugins, and bulk upload failures. KnowledgeTree 3.4.2 users- please note that you will need to upgrade to KnowledgeTree 3.4.5 before upgrading to 3.4.6. Click here to view the detailed Release Notes for this version.

This is a performance enhancement and minor bug fix release that should significantly improve page load times and general responsiveness of the system. Click here to view the Release Notes.

• Use of Apache mod_php instead of CGI (Linux Stacks are unaffected)

• KnowledgeTree Web Service - provides a language and platform independent method of seamlessly integrating KnowledgeTree with your business-specific applications and making it even easier to create solutions around KnowledgeTree [ more ]
• A revised PHP API, which eases the creation of third-party plugins [ more ]
• KnowledgeTree's WebDAV Server is now available to the Open Source community in the KnowledgeTree Open Source Edition - allows access to the repository content directly from standards-based WebDAV clients [ more ]
• Richer, faster GUI improves user experience
• RSS Feeds - Access RSS feeds of changes to folders and documents and even your subscriptions
• RSS Client Dashlet - View RSS feeds from your favorite content providers or even KnowledgeTree itself from our new RSS Client Dashlet
• Tag Clouds - add your own metadata tags to documents and view a visual representation of the document tags added by your entire organization. Tagging and Tag Clouds give your users a great overview of the contents of your document repository.
• "Convert to PDF" - a new document action, thanks to OpenOffice.org in the stack
• The new BitRock stack now includes OpenOffice.org, and updates several stack components
• The Installer now automatically configures SSL settings
• A Database Backup Wizard, included with the Upgrade Installer, simplifies the creation and restoration of database backups

KnowledgeTree Tools for Windows and Client-side Access

• KnowledgeTree Document Workflow Integration (DWI) Service (BETA) - a stand-alone download that is designed to facilitate bulk uploads from your local file system. This application automatically stores your documents in the right location in the repository and auto-populates the metadata fields. Once out of the Beta release, KnowledgeTree Document Workflow Integration Service will only be available to KnowledgeTree Enterprise subscribers. [ more ]
• KnowledgeTree Outlook Integration is out of Beta, and officially part of the core of the KnowledgeTree Commercial Editions
• KnowledgeTree Office Integration and KnowledgeTree Desktop Imaging are now optional during Install
• Proxy Authentication added - provides the ability to use proxies that require authentication
• Support for mandatory metadata and "Reasons" on actions
• Numerous Windows usability enhancements to KnowledgeTree Client Tools for Windows - KnowledgeTree Explorer now more closely mimics Microsoft Explorer, making the interface more intuitive
